I’ve Gotten What I Need!

“You can’t always get what you want…”
“You can’t always get what you want…”
“You can’t always get what you want…”
“But if you try sometimes…Well you might find…You get what you need.”
There are so many things in my life that I want. Not just what I want for me, but for everyone around me. I beat myself up to get/accomplish it. Or I beat myself up because I didn’t get/accomplish it. When I hear Mick sing these words, I think “Huh…That is so true!” But it is so hard to live thinking that way. Well as I write/reflect today I think…
I want more time to read, less time in front of the TV, more time with family, less time in front of the TV, more time communicating, laughing, crying (good tears of course) with Chris (my hubby), less time in front of the TV.
Ever since I’ve started the “Slice of Life” challenge as Mick said, “But if you try sometimes…Well you might find…You get what you need.” I think to myself…thank you Dana for letting me try. Being encouraging. Being supportive. I’ve gotten what I need!
I’ve read many posts and even picked up a new book to begin.
I’ve talked, remembered, laughed & cried with my family and Chris as I wrote & shared my posts.
I’ve gotten what I need!
I immediately warmed to your post because my mother used to sing this song to me anytime I was asking for something that she wasn’t going to get me. I love that this challenge is helping you get what you need. Enjoy the month of less TV and more communicating and reading.
Crystal, I couldn’t agree with you more. Honestly, this has been a recent lesson that keeps surfacing lately.. being productive and listening to life- allowing it to take me where I need to go- Even if that route was not my intended destination. And I also, can not thank Dana enough for presenting us with this opportunity. It feels amazing just being a part of this creative, productive community! Love it! 🙂
Isn’t it fun to read all the posts? March is such a busy month, but the Slice makes it more fun!
Thanks for reminding us all, writing is healthy and needed.
Crystal, this makes me so happy 🙂
Great post. It’s amazing what we find time for when we let go of some of those things that suck up our time. My guilty pleasure would be Facebook.
I love this post…and glad to hear you got what you needed! It’s amazing how consuming the TV can be. I didn’t have a working TV in my house for an entire week 2 years ago. It was an amazing week…I felt more energized, read more, cleaned more, had more energy, talked to more friends on the phone. I sometimes wonder why I still feel I can’t live without the TV…
This challenge has been good for my soul, too. And I should be thanking you guys, not the other way around. I’m humbled, truly, to be part of this with you.
